There is a great deal of worry and anxiety over the state of our planet. We all want peace and quiet and an enjoyable time in our homes and outside as well. We all want beautiful surroundings and look for a beautiful landscape. We want that landscape to not just be beautiful but we want it to be environmentally friendly.
Normal grass, plants and trees require a lot of water and maintenance to keep it looking great. But, with water being restricted in many areas because it is in short supply, you want to look for a more eco friendly landscape and its benefits to your residence. You want a landscape that will be low maintenance and low in water usage. To do this, you will have to replace the grass with biodegradable artificial turf. You will no longer have to mow the lawn or water it and the grass will not turn brown. If artificial turf is not for you, consider water conversation by how you arrange your plants. Keep those that need more water in one place and plant those desert type plants that require less water in another place.
Some people have opted for an edible landscape and are doing away with the high maintenance landscape. The edible landscape includes fruit trees, vegetable gardens, plants that are drought resistant, and herb or greens gardens. Edible landscape is beautiful and will keep your family in nutritious food all year. If your vegetable garden is invaded by pests, rabbits or squirrels, then plant onions around the perimeter of your gardens and they will stay away. You may also want to consider a desert landscape also known as a native landscape. The desert landscape design will include native wildflowers and ferns that do not require much water and instead you can cover the area with colorful stone.
For other eco friendly landscape considerations, you may want to add something for your enjoyment or for entertaining such as an outdoor fire pit, outdoor barbeque pit, or an outdoor fireplace. Patios and outdoor lighting can fit into your landscape beautifully and you will have the perfect place for all of your outdoor activities and for entertainment.
To keep your landscape eco friendly, avoid using chemicals which are toxic. Although they may help whatever situation you will use for on a short term basis, in the long run they are not good for the health of those enjoying the outdoor activities nor are they good for the earth. You can remove pests by removing those features that attract them and by adding barriers. This will cut the use of pesticides and herbicides.
In summary, an eco friendly landscape benefits not only you individually but the planet as well because it will conserve our dwindling water supply; provide food for you and your family with an edible garden; and contribute to the good health and outdoor enjoyment of you and your family without the use of toxic chemicals.
